Bought a Scangauge II this week for my 2006 F250 King Ranch. Need suggestions for the most common or must have gauges. So far I've put on FICM main power. As for my previous post about transmission issue, I think that injector stiction may be the issue as it only shows up at 45-50 mps. So I've ordered some Archoil to see if that will solve the problem.
EOT/ECT to start, just to see how the oil cooler is doing. ICP/IPR to check HPO system for leaks. Voltages (BAT, FICM), for awhile to check on batteries and charging system. Then maybe temps (TFT, EOT, ECT, IAT,) in some combination with fan speed (FSS) to make sure the fan is spooling up when it needs to. Those are some common issues the SG can show you. After that it's just what your curious about or suspecting as issues. Just another note on the scan gauge, just because it shows no fault codes when you do a scan it doesn't mean there aren't any. There is an XGauge to show how may codes are present that works better though, so if it shows there are 3 but a scan says none, you may need a better device to see what the codes actually are.
There are some combinations that go together and you'll pick up on that after using it for awhile.
Not to imply the trans never breaks but may times what "feels" like a trans issue turns out to be engine related.
