So Jim these part numbers break away from the pattern in the link you provided. I don't know how to decipher them. However, it looked like some of the NGK plugs were getting hotter rather than cooler.
274 & 272 are regular length plugs.
You need that 'S' on there... and I don't see where they list them.
Perhaps a short plug does not have enough length to make one that cool.
Our heat range on our plugs range from 1 - 7 with 7 being the hottest. The heat range is represented in the fourth numerical character of the part number.
Our 0414S-4 would have a heat range of 4 and the 0576S-4 would be a 6.

So my plugs(0276S) are one step down from the hottest.
That sounds pretty hot. Time for a colder plug - and a call to James. But, I forgot to look for the special plug socket - will do tomorrow. I hope. Text me?
NGK replied to my email with an extremely short, but weak response. I honestly expected a better answer from them. Seems like you are on your own if dealing with their products.
