if you bumped the motor over with no push rods on the valve lifter you very well may have pushed the lifter right out of the lifter hole. did you get a flashlight and look down the hole in the head to see if you can see the lifter? if there was not a lot of buildup on the lifter at the base (by the camshaft) it could have easily pushed the lifter out and that is why the push rod will want to fall in.
there is a reason why you bent two pushrods. were the bent pushrods intake and exhaust on one cylinder? have you checked the timing chain and gears? does it have the plastic camshaft gear on it? may have jumped a gear. did it backfire at all when this happened? have you got the oil pan off? did you check to see if a rod had broke or piston pin broke?
