Fuel gauge solved!

Well I got me one of these...

and one of these....

already had one of these.....

Put it all in and now I have a fuel gauge.....yahhhhhhh!!!! Next step is to run it out of fuel to see exactly where that is on the gauge....lol. I don't have a pic yet but I installed the gauge behind the speaker cover grill on the dash. You can see thru the grill good enough to see the bright orange pointer and the markings.
I got the parts from egauges.com. Fast service and good packing.

Congrats Wayne, I can remember when I got mine working, Whew what a relief. I think I ran around with a gallon container of gas until It ran out ( like you said to see where empty actually was). Well you can cross that one off your list, what's next?

We'll see about that, Im sure you can still come up with a few dozen more projects, LOL. When I started all I wanted was a truck that turned, stopped, and didn't catch fire under the dash. Now I realize Ill never be done. I just got a package yesterday from D.C., with the parts to remount the cab, and a new trans cover for inside of it. I think I got it pretty bad. Oh well I enjoy it, and it keeps me out of trouble. Time will tell aye?

Wayne, that's similar to what I used. Mine was part of the gauge kit from VDO. Because most gas tanks are shallow and wide, and ours are tall and narrow, you may have to favor one fuel level over the other. Either it's most accurate at full or empty. I favored empty. It was accurate until the plastic float filled with gas and sunk, reading empty all the time. I had the original copper float and arm from the old sender. I adapted that but the arm is shorter so I read empty with 4-5 gallons left.
