Help with front axle

Is the knuckle seal on the axle really only important if you have the auto hubs. I got rid of those a long time ago and have the warn manual hubs. I have the axle out and don't want to replace that seal if I don't have to. Thanks

It should be there for the axle stabilization too. But you can reuse the old one if you don't deform it too much since you don't care about the vacuum...
