Other Axle Disconnect?
Hi, I was wondering if anyone knows if Ford has ever used a solid front axle that DIDN'T use manual locking hubs. Have they ever used some other sort of axle disconnect system? If so, what did they use and on what models?

As far as i know of, there were manual hubs, and full time hubs. I have never heard of automatics on a solid axle. There may be some retrofit kits you could purchase, but i dont know of any.

Other Axle Disconnect?
What is a "full-time hub"? Doesn't there have to be some way for the axles to disconnect when not in 4 wheel drive? I know Dodge uses a solid axle Dana 60 that DOESN'T have manual hubs, but it has a Center Axle Disconnect system.

its basically a drive flange/slug that connects the axle directly to the hub at all times.....they cant be unlocked. These are somewhat desirable if you are looking for maximum strength in a machine thats mostly off road. If you have a vehicle with them you can replace them with manual hubs
