77 Highboy Price

Hey guys, Ive got a '77 F-250 Highboy SCLB that I am interested in selling. Body and interior are in rough condition and needs a total restoration however it is a solid platform. Has D60 rear, D44 front, C6 and NP205 Tcase. It does not have a engine but had a 460 in it. This is a truck that my dad owned when I was a kid and my life long dream had been to fix it up like new, unfortunately I have realized it will take much more time and money than I have. I have rebuilt the 460 and have it sitting in the basement. My new goal is to buy a 92-96 Bronco to put it in, swap to a zf5 and install bigger axles. My hope is to be able to sell the 77 without the motor and get enough to at least start the bronco project. However at this point I do not know what it is worth. Can anyone give me some thoughts on what its worth?

Thanks

Rough body, rough interior, no engine. This is a parts truck. I would just guess from no pictures, $300-$400? Maybe not even that

Are you talking about the truck you have posted as your profile pic? If so, $600 at best. Parts trucks don't go for very much... Especially if both the body AND the interior are shot. The fact that its got no engine doesn't help it at all either.

I am located in Birmingham, Al. Yea its the truck in the pic. If its not worth any more than that I will likely save the axles for the bronco, sell the trans and tcase and scrap the body and frame. Just kinda hated to scrap her. I would sell it with the engine but I think I would lose money with what i've got in the engine. Its built right and strong.

Put it on the FTE classifides and the local Craigslist, the truck itself looks like maybe a 5 to 6 hundred parts truck, sorry.

Have all the eng build info and recirpts to back up that you are asking for the motor....

You should be able to ask what you can prove in reciepts for parts and machine shop labor/time.

Have you posted it in your local FTE state chapter?

I am fairly set on keeping the motor because I built it myself and even the engine is a little centimental beacue it was my dads truck. I haven't posted it yet but I will give it a shot. Just called my local scrap yard and they are giving .10 a pound so I am curious what the body and frame will weigh? Also, would that front d44 be a good swap for a bronco?

I guess 4500 ish lbs, without motor.

If a guy will swap you a running and driveable bronco for that D44 get on it, but it will make for a PITA time to move that truck around with out the front axle.

FYI a D44 is not like D60 $ wise.

I'd maybe just part I out. Yea, the axles should bring $150 to $200 each and that t case should be $200 or so if it's good. If the tranny is good, it should be $100. Otherwise your looking at $450 from the scrap yard.

Looks like he thinks you're trading it for a Bronco. Personally I wouldn't wast my time swapping it into a Bronco.
