finally turbo install

Figured I would do a little update, got my exhaust finally done as well. It's pretty quiet, 3" down pipe to 3.5 from 3.5" to 4" muffler and pipe out the side. A little on the quite side compared to being n/a lol here's some pics

3" dp to 3.5" I had laying around

Just got done driving about 60 miles on this new set up.. numbers @ 60mph flat road: egt 475-500*F boost gauge was 1.5-2psi. When I hammer down I have ZERO SMOKE!! This is a good thing, boost at 11psi and egt didn't get any hotter than 750*F. With that being said I am thoroughly impressed with the performance of this truck now, don't get me wrong I was happy before but now I am just tickled pink.. I can also say now with the up pipe so close to the firewall my right foot does get a little warm lol, yes my pipes are wrapped

before i blew the 5 speed trans and transfer case in my 88 and swapped the C-6 in it, i used to walk away from first generation powerstrokes, chebbys, and comaparts

:-) I like to hear that, buddy has a 96 and I pull really good on him. He's like what "what kind of chip u have?" Lol I don't! 100% mechanical baby, just a rebuilt pump/injectors and a used turbo, and only making 10lbs of boost

i used to tell them i had a bullybog stacked on top of a edge, stacked on top of a superchips. combined i was making almost 700 hp, and that was why i was having clutch problems cause the clutch was only good for 600 hp.

if you tell the story convincingly, the idiots will believe almost anything.

Lol hahahahahah that's funny. I'm going to have to steal that from you, if you don't mind. That's a good one, and to top it off I'll say I have custom programmed FICM (6.0 thing)

So I had someone ask me today how big or what size turbo I had, like exhaust size (1.15 a/r) ? I was like ummmm I don't know lol. So what size are these non gated turbos?

custom garret turbo off a 94 peterbuilt. and it has a 7:1 a/r when used on a ford diesel.


if you cant dazzle them with details, baffle them with bull**** like the dodge dudes do.

So I know this has been brought up time and time again.. but what is the Max boost a 6.9 can handle? Yes I've got stock bolts, I ask because I can hit about 11-12psi or more no problem and I don't want to hold it there without studs lol. I might turn the fuel down to maybe keep the boost down

494,000 miles, turbo installed with under 500 miles on engine.
i regularly push 15 lbs boost.
don't worry about 12 lbs. keep EGT under 1100 degrees and you will be golden.
