Hi I took my Ranger to get the cooling system flushed & filled at Jiffy lube. WhenI got back home turned the engine off had lunch about 1/2 hr later I went out and started truck. The engine was ticking. Sounds like a collapsed lifter( do these engines still have lifters? ). Any I dea what this could be? noise goes away after running for about 1min. or if I rev it. Maybe when the pulled the vacum on the cooling system did something get messed up? Thanks Tim
Jiffy lube did the oil change about 1 mounth ago. After I posted this message I double checked the oil level. Turns out I was down 3 quarts. EXTREMELY unusual for my truck. Up until the last oil change it didn't use/burn any between oli changes. I checked for leaks found none it doesn't smoke so I'm hoping it was just a fluke. Tim
Jiffy Lube should have checked your oil while you had it in for the flush! In fact, that's one of things they say they do for you as a service....top it off for free between changes, right? It takes about 6 milliseconds of time to check someone's oil. It's what they supposedly do for a living all day, every day. And the car was right there in the bay with the hood open and they were making money off of you to boot. They couldn't even do it as a simple courtesy?
That's downright insulting, IMO. I would complain and then never go back.
You know Rockledge I never thought of it that way but you're totally right. I usually do the oil changes myself but I've been too busy at work and getting rid of the oil is a hassle. Besides last time I had the oil changed I they only did 2 grease fittings. I know because when they are done I always crawl underneath and make the plug is tight and there are no leaks. I guess for the most part if you want it done right you have to do it yourself. Tim
