Conspiracy theories abound through out history. Urban legends, assasination plots, revolutions, terrorists, accidents, tragedies they all tend to spin off paranoid speculations from both sides of the political/social spectrum. Some are plain hogwash, some loosely based on fact and others frighteningly true.
Just curious as to what the most outrageous conspiracy theory you have ever heard of was/is, and whether you believe it or not?
The story that former Director of the FBI, J. Edgar Hoover was a cross dresser and a weirdo, started with one single woman. Her husband was a known criminal and she herself was an ex-con, convicted of perjury. No other confirmation of this odd dressing behavior has ever been found, and hundreds of people that should know say it wasn't true, yet everyone knows the story, most all are willing to believe it.
Indeed, the Carlisle group.
Half of GW Senior's cabinet was from them, as he is a member. And now, it turns out that the group handles most of the bin-Laden family's money....
Ever heard of the Majestic 12? It's supposedly a top-secret program created by the US Government with the intent of using Alien technology for all sorts of interesting stuff.
Pretty interesting, really.
Do a search on Google for Majestic 12 - there's a million websites devoted to the whole thing.
That the July 20th 1969 American's landing on the moon did not happen & that it was actually filmed in a studio, and that they wouldn't ever have to worry about proving it because, since it had been done, no one else would go there.
(The idea that cars and trucks are designed to cause everyone to buy parts for them indefinately, thus creating a market after the vehicle is originally sold.)
This is evidently no longer true, as machines are currently blowing away all prior records for longevity of the engine/powertrain, and lease arrangements are out there based on the concept that after a year or so people get tired of last years wheels and want to trade it for something new.
I also cite the trend toward what used to be considered disposable parts being sold under "Lifetime" warrantees (so long as the same driver owns the vehicle)
This includes:
Brake pads and shoes
Water pumps
Alternators
Etc, etc...
If it was ever true, the paradigm is now changed based on the common view of a motor vehicle being a thing to be cast off in short order once it becomes familiar...
It also reinforces my suspicion that people today have a shorter attention span than they used to.
- I keep expecting to hear someone say:
"I did something good for the planet today! I recycled my automobile... Can anyone give me a ride to work in the morning???"

I don't know......I saw a special on Fox about this, and they presented some pretty compelling evidence. Japan is sending an unmanned rocket to the moon next year with camera equipment, and it's supposed to land near one of the Apollo sites. Guess we'll know for sure then.
Well, I can't think of one right off the top of my head, but I'm supposed to go see my Grandpa in a couple of weeks, I usually have a book's worth of unsolicited conspiricy theories from both him and my Grandma by the time the 2 day visit is over just from "general" conversation.
