Pushrod Length/Engine machining

I am preparing to rebuild a 360 FE. The heads have already been milled .015". The block hasn't been touched yet, but I am presuming they will at least plane the cylinder decks a little. Should I be alright with stock-length pushrods being as they have no lash adjustment at the rocker arms? Will the hydraulic lifters make up the difference? Anybody have trouble with this? Is there a minimum amount of machining that takes place before this becomes an issue? I am a Chevy guy and have no experience in this arena...but I am trying to learn. Thanks a lot, folks.

You should be ok with stock pushrods. Your lifters have about 0.185" play...plenty of room for your preload. Have an adjustable pushrod checker?

Just check your rocker geometry....0.015" shouldn't make much of a difference with stock stamped steel rockers, but I would check it anyway.

They were out of order before I got ahold of the project, unfortunately.

I feel your pain. I always had built bt's in my previous life......these FE's are like a love/hate relationship to me. I don't think I will ever touch another orange engine ....Make dang sure your intake manifold aligns with your milled heads. This series of engine is very particular about that. I was afraid of the non-adjustable valve train at first but it does just fine with my little cam.
