Steering Coulmn/Shaft

I have been looking for parts for a 1990 steering column/shaft but have come up empty. What are some good fixes for the steering shaft? The rag joint is good but the joint lower where the rubber stopper like thing is is loose and is contributing to the 1/2" of free play in my steering. What I am trying to do is eliminate as much play as possible before the steering gear box. I know that there is about 3/16" of total play in the steering linkages but I would like to try and eliminate the steering shaft play before getting into the underside stuff.

Yes, I couldn't find any steering column/shaft parts for my year other than the rag joint.

There is also www.lmctruck.com

Although through them, unless you know their part number, you will need to order a catalog first.

1987-1991 Bronco/F150's have a superior rag-joint than their predecessor that used a rubber/fabric type. You wont find a replacement rag-joint anywhere because the solid vulcanized rubber unit that you have very rarely fail. The "rubber stopper like thing" you speak of is the rag-joint.

Like I said, the joint from these years rarely fail, so one option would be to go to the junkyard and pull the intermidiate shaft from an 87-91, another would be to buy a replacement rag-joint from NAPA (although it will be of the inferior type I spoke of) or save up a couple hundred dollars and but a Borgeson/Flaming River steering shaft.

Are you certain it is the steering shaft? How is the tire pressure? Ball-joint? Drag link? Tie rods?
