Still having oil pump problem :390FE

The new engine i built this last winter has an m57HV, windage tray, moroso stock replacement pan.
I was having an issue where any time i get into it, oil pressure will die off. on the highway it would start clacking lifters(thats what it sounds like anyway) then pressure will bottom out. i could shut off for a few minutes and regain pressure.
the only oiling trick i did not do was put rocker shaft restrictors in. I finally had a buddy give me some .90 holley jets i popped in. i immediatly noticed a difference. I replaced all my tie rods so i drove it to get aligned across town and it made it to the last intersection until it dropped out of oil pressure again.

I was really hoping the HV was emptying the pan too fast and that the restrictors would solve the issue. my first theory was that the relief spring is sticking open. doesnt make make much sense.

Im curious if i can use the oil pump primer i made out of an old dizzy to replicate the problem? ill need a heavy duty drill to hook up to it...

What do ya'll think??? I want to know the pump is bad instead of change it out and still have the problem. I bought the ARP driveshaft so i will drop the pan eventually anyway to put that in. I pretty much have to pull the engine to do it, i dont have a barn so im not about to be doing it for no reason.

has anyone had this problem before?????

My brother had several issues using high volume oil pumps . He was building a 442 though . He finally went back to a standard pump . Afterwords he had no further oil issues . He was pumping oil faster than it could return to the pan .

....and that's what i'm debating upon, whether to return to a standard pump or what.
i used a drill to prime the pump, it would make a few rev's and then the drill would not keep up anymore, so i wonder if ill be able to even test the pump problem "manually".

try posting this question in the performance , engine forum . I am not much on non stock builds , but guys here know more than I ever will about modifying . I would ask my brother, but he passed a few years ago .

I have read on FE specific forums that the proper set up is a stock m57 with .70 or .80 holley jets unless you are racing, then drop down to .60 jets. This is assuming that you that you have a fairly tight engine and not spraying oil out past worn out bearings and need the HV pump to make pressure. Have you checked the oil pressure with a mech gauge at idle and cruise RPM?
