wow, yah that is exactly what happened to me. the coolant sprayed out. but the only difference is on the 4.6 it was on the passenger side. and still cant really remember if it was the number 5 or the 6 cylinder. and im quite sure the 97 4.6 has far less work to be done to remove intake man. a lot simpler then with the 4.2, and I do believe with the 4.2 that was actually quite common thing with those engines. that was so very helpful, gives me a lot more hope ill be able to fix it right.

Yeah you can I went through this last year. Get yourself an account at
'photobucket' .com. then, upload your desired pics from your comp. to your library, then click on the <IMG> adress on the right side of page. when you click it, it will light up and say copied, then go back to FTE forum tab and right click inside your message window and click <paste> you should then see the address appear. let me know how it goes . it took me quite a few tries.

It looks cleaner in there because the coolant has washed it down . You got luck not bending a rod .

Correct . The plastic, foam bit is only there for noise control . You can toss the bits , no worries .

You will find that the Triton V8 cylinders are numbered 1-4 front to back on passenger side and 5-8 front to back on drivers side.
That being said your problem with coolant on the passenger side of the engine could not be from cyl 5 or 6.
Not trying to pick on you... But it does make a difference especially when tracking down misfires from DTCs.

the number one cylinder is the furthest forward is it not? and on the 4.6 liter, the one as facing the engine, on the right (drivers side) is the one furthest forward? that was my understanding.

Right bank , as you sit in the vehicle . All positions are stated from driver's position while seated in vehicle . So .. right bank is left as viewed looking at the front of the vehicle . That is f,r layout engines like your truck .

and also the cam censor is located at the number one cylinder, is this not true? and the cam censor is located at the same. the furthest forward on the driver side or right side (as facing) the engine. so I would believe that the order of the cylinder is on the drivers side 1-4 and on the passenger side 5-8. any one correct me if I am wrong!
