Reason: wording
Go back to the main page for the 6.0 and then click on the search key. Type in the p0266. You will find a lot of threads on the subject. It is becoming quite common problem. Hope this helps. I did read one thread and they figured it was a bad injector.
it is a rebuilt engine bought 3 years ago 35000km on it now
Ive been reading some of the posts on the 0266 code
My issue is that once i let it sit for an hr and clear the codes it fires up with no coming back , this time for almost a week
Bad injector?
Altenator went two weeks ago also
My truck is giving me stress
I bought the rebuilt engine from Ford dealer
a complete package and is only 3.5 years old
I put deisel additives in , antigel
what is happening with my engine ?
Set of Dummy Plugs (W302908) about $40, full set of DP&SP (6E7Z-9A332-B) about $120
What happens is the cold, thicker oil seals the o-rings on the dummy plugs and allows the HPO to fully pressurize. Once the engine is shut off and then tried to restart the oil is too thin to seal, and a major leak occurs.
Navistar updated the dummy plugs with a backer for the o-ring to prevent leaking and worn o-rings.
I would assume the rebuilt engine from Ford would have the updated STC fitting, but hard to tell without pulling the turbo and HPOP cover to look. The STC fitting was updated from a 2 piece design which would fail and have a major leak to a one-piece design. Part # 4C3Z-9B246-F and about $45.00
