At the motor I get 0.00 ohms and with a battery hooked directly to it the motor does work in both directions all the way up and down

So the wires you just spliced into the motor, those have 12v to them. And do you know for sure those are going to the switch up front?

Also at the red/yellow and yellow/red I get 0.00ohms when the dash switch is in neutral and infinite when the switch is pushed up or down.

Those come from the key switch but its the same way with jumpering from the violet wires coming from the dash switch.

Hmm, that is all strange. So the PO bypassed the safety switch, are you bypassing the key switch? Those go bad often.

I think that will be my only option but I'm not sure how.would it just be the violet wires frome the dash switch I'd use or would the ground behind the tail light NEED to get used?
