I have an 89 B2 2.9. Just recently I have been having a problem with the ignition. Sometimes (once a week, give or take) I turn the key, get power, but nothing else. It is exactly like if I was not putting the clutch down. Usually if I mess around with turning the key, jamming the clutch down and such it will start. I called the local Ford dealer and they said that if they could not recreate the problem they could not fix it, so don't waste the money (wow! really honest!). Anyone have any suggestions? The thing runs great besides this little problem.
Electrical gremlins!! And they can be hard to diagnose. I've seen this sort of thing occur due to bad battery cables or bad cable connections. It could also be an intermittent failure of the clutch interlock switch or the main ignition switch. While waiting for the next incident, check and clean battery connections and other connections in the starting circuits. Next time it won't start, go through the wiring with a voltmeter and see where the power is and isn't getting to.

89 B2 Ignition Problems, help!
I have an '84 bII....It runs as good as a truck with 260,000 miles can be expected to run ( HOW DID SOMEONE PUT THAT MUCH MILEAGE ON IT ON AN ISLAND???)
I took it offroading a few weeks back and I stalled it out and it refused to start back up. The starter turns the radio works....but its like the engine isn't getting spark...any suggestions on what the problem might be?
