Windshield replacement questions.

I was looking at Safelite auto glass and they have a few Windshield listings.
I do have the windshield that has " Super Duty" on it and would like to get the same one.
Heres what they offer......
1 Windshield solar, "super duty" in 3rd visor green tint
2 Windshield solar, "super duty" in 3rd visor green tint/blue shade

Heres the thing my windshield has no tint of any kind. What do they mean by that?

Also has anyone used Safelite any info would be grate.
Thanks.

All the windshields have a tint, just not like the doors. When replacing my '09, I just got the standard SD replacement. It matches exactly. I think they are referring to a further tint area across the top with the 'blue shade.' Seems that I remember them asking be about the top of the windshield other than the SD/checkering.

you will see a little a-s1 and a line (I think I got the lettering right) By law it cannot pass that line has to be above it. It is on almost if not all windshields near the left and right pillars about 1/4 way down. So that is how far it will likely be.

Thanks.

I recently got hit with crap off the back of a dump truck so I called them to. They wanted 345$ to come to my truck and install, but that's for an 02. Although I don't believe there is any difference at all between the windshield.

Tell them you want the OEM carlite windshield every time I've had a ford window replaced I always tell them I want carlite glass because that's what it comes with from the factory

I just had mine replaced in 2009 SD. Cost=$350.00. It is the Carlite (Ford). I had the top tinted put in mine and afterward noticed that you can't see the "Super Duty" logo from outside.

That's not too bad. Our van windshield got hit with a tiny pebble and cracked it halfway across and I was wondering about how much it would be.

Do you all not have comprehensive insurance? Mine cost me $50, insurance took care of the rest. Safelite came to house and replaced it right there.

Just had my w/s replaced for $208 installed at my driveway. Couldn't care less about having the SD logo in the center. In CO, you're lucky if you get more than 2-3 years out of w/s here. I found Safelite to be way overpriced-guess it depends on where you live & how much competition there is....

Same story here - $50 for them to come to my house and replace the windshield in the garage, insurance covered the rest - crack usually has to be a certain size, mine decided to take off all the way across. I think they just carry the Carlite stuff for Super Duties...I didn't request anything special, but that's what they put in for me.

Gotta say, I wouldn't worry about the tint across the top - never really had it block any sun, I always just used the visor.

My insurance also covered it. Out of pocket $100. Insurance will set it up, but if you call Safelite directly after the insurance, you can ask them to change the vehicle to a 2003 (if you have a 99-02) and it will show the SUPERDUTY lettering option. They usually dont have a problem with this if you explain its the same model vehicle.

That is the same way mine cracked......
Yes I would want to get the OEM carlite windshield. I hope safelite has that one, im going to call them once the weather gets warmer.
As for my Insurance I have full coverage from State Farm, I think I have a $500 comprehensive deductible. I have to check, but than if I make a clam they probably raise my rates?
What Insurance company do you guys have?

Also I think I would rather go to safelite because my truck has a 4" lift on it and I dont know if they send one guy out to replace it?

Also does anyone know if they have to remove the pillers inside the cab to install the new windshield?
Thanks...Gage

As for the tint across the top, I have no idea what they mean by that....they just show the two factory options.....

1. Windshield solar, "super duty" in 3rd visor green tint
2. Windshield solar, "super duty" in 3rd visor green tint/blue shade
I just have the "Super Duty" windsheild....no tint at all and would like to keep it that way if I can.
Thanks....Gage
