I have a Winchester 1200 with a 20" deer barrel and pistol grip for home protection...
The S&W 915 9mm was my first pistol and I do believe that I could put dog food thru it and it would fire. Reliable gun for sure but not highly accurate.
I have a custom S&W 357 snubby wheelgun with nite sites, hogue grips and a bunch of other features... pretty good carry gun if the target is about 15 feet away or less due to the 2" barrel. It hurts my ears when fired even with ear plugs, but you KNOW this suckers gonna fire. (It might not hit, but it will fire.)
Got a Colt hammerless .25 semi at a yard sale and believe it or not, it's a pretty nice little gun! (Won't jam with quality ammo and pretty accurate too.) I would not trust it in an emergency tho.
My 239 .40 Sig is a great gun but the .40 load is a bit hot for me due to a tad of arthritis.
My baby is the Sig p225 9mm with nite sites! This is truly a fantastic gun. Accurate, reliable, light and well designed...
I can't say enough positive things about it.
Sounds like some cool guns. What do you shoot at night? Do they have night ranges and competitions. I am an old country boy who had always done all my shooting out in the woods. We used to do some spotlighting when I was a kid.
Originally posted by rocktruck OK, time to 'fess up to my ignorance. Can someone define "stovepiping"?
Stovepiping is when the empty casing does not clear the gun. It is usually caused by not holding the gun firmly enough. As the casing starts to exit the gun, it gets caught by the slide and jams the gun. It looks kinda like a stovepipe sticking out, hense the term stovepiping.
A little of the subject but since you were talking about break-ins---When we first moved to our new house, we were called 18 times a day for the first few weeks from these alarm companies. They were ******, they harrassed...One guy asked me "How do you plan on protecting your family!" I told him to come by tonight and try to break in, I had a 870 Express waiting for him...I've "heard" that the reason America won't be ever taken over isn't generally because of our military.......it's all the armed civilians.

I live in a rather large city where crime is always a possibility, so I keep a few small guns hidden around the house.
I also like to target shoot the Sig pistols at the range.
Almost forgot...I bought those 2 guns used and they just happend to have the nite sights.
You are so right. It is America's armed citizens that will protect themselves, not the cops that show up too late. I didn't trust them then and I don't trust them now. I hope I never have to use it again, but I am not afraid to.

I did some work for a salesman who represented a very well known security company. He gave me a handful of their window stickers. He said the stickers were a 90% deterent.
You are right about that last statement, who wants to invade a country that has a dozen guns sticking out of every window, well that used to be true. It seems high tech warfare has diminished the role of the footsoldier in ground invasion.
An interesting figure I got from a sniper show on the History channel: The longest shot made by a sniper was over 2500 yards with a 50 caliber . It was just one of those on screen blurps. The show was just a couple days ago and will be rerun all several times I'm sure.
