I have a 2002 Ford F250 V-10 that has a newer engine replaced by Ford that has around 29,000 miles,a new trans with 100 miles and now the truck will not turn over. All the lights work, horn, stereo, windows, heater, eeverything works just will not turn over. I had battery, alternator and starter checked and all are good.I cleaned battery terminals and starter wires and terminals and still nothing.Any ideas would certainly be appreciated.
You need to check the starter relay (solenoid). Follow your Positive battery cable from the battery, the other end will be connected to one terminal on the Starter relay and the cable connected to the other terminal of the relay runs directly to the starter. The small wire on the "S" terminal of the relay is from the start position of the ignition switch.
The starter relay is nothing more than an electromagnetic switch. The S terminal is energized when you turn the key over to start and that activates a magnet inside the relay which closes the heavy duty contacts to send power directly to the starter motor.
The relay needs to be securely bolted to the metal inner fender with a solid and clean connection in order to provide a ground for the solenoid.
