Im trying to install an aftermarket stereo. The factory stereo wire harness has the speaker wires connected via a 9-pin clip, and the power/ground etc. was hardwired in. Im trying to connect a dual xdma6630 and am not quite sure where to start.
My brother in law disconnected the speaker wire clip, and cut the hardwired cables. I looked up the wire color code, and noted that there is a black wire, and 2 black/green stripe wires. the code says that the ground wire is black/green stripe. Thus I am thoroughly confused.
Any ideas?
A bit late after all this has been done but Crutchfield and other car audio sellers have adapters for connecting aftermarket audio gear into stock chassis wiring harnesses without any cutting or splicing of the original chassis wiring harness required.
Follow your schematic to see where these questionable wires lead---that should get you back on track.
do you mean that there is an adapter that goes from the old stereo plug in to the harness that fits my aftermarket stereo? if that's the case, i can always go splice it back in. there were only 7 wires that were cut. the battery, 12v+, random black wire, 2 black/green ground wires, ignition and illumination wires.

my guy is slightly too impatient to wait for a harness to come in the mail, so we went to a pick and pull and got another factory harness. we installed it, but still was not getting any power to the deck. my brother in law installed a direct power line to the battery, and everything works splendidly.
