My 2009 XLT, either the emblem gets sun-damaged or water inside or something. Starting to look bad. What I'm thinking instead of replacing it with another one that will likely suffer from the same problem, is to go retro a little bit. Well maybe a lotta bit.
See, I needed a new fuel tank for my '64 F100, so I find one at a good price from these guys at Bob Drake reproductions and order it over the phone like the old days, wanted to be sure it would work for my application. So this guy sez real casual like "want us to send out a catalog too?" "Sure" not thinking about it.
Those &$ast€rds!! Anyway, So this HUGE catalog shows up - full of really high quality stuff I didn't even know I needed for flatties and vintage Fords from the 30s and 40s. Great. And all these nice blue oval chromed Ford script hood emblems and ornaments for '30s pickups. Hopefully some of them are the right size, and would look great. Couldn't be all that tough to pop the plastic one off, and get it pro-fessionally installed. Whaddaya think, bad idea?
nah, old one will pop/peel off and leave some goo to clean up. new one get some yellow trim adhesive from the auto parts store and you are done. Post up a pic!
No worries at all! I used to have an MX6 that I removed the mazda logo and added a ford logo to as a joke. Make sure to get the area clean of all the leftover goo. Mineral spirits/diesel fuel works good, the wipe down with alcohol as a final clean up.
Sounds good. Gonna give these guys a call or email and see if they can send dimensions. Heck these repros probably cost less than the new ones anyway. So "glue" is the only thing holding this thing on?? Easy peasey then.
