Hi all,
I have a 2002 F-350 7.3 (not a duel). I've developed a problem with the motor cutting out randomly. It was a quick cut out like a very fast hiccup. It was very random, I tracked when it was happening and I couldn't put a pattern on it. So, I looked on the forum, did my research and everything pointed at the Cam Position Sensor. My truck always runs great, is clean burning and runs like new ( only 168k miles). The stutter developed into complete shutdown. I would have to turn off the ignition wait 20 seconds and then it would restart, without a problem. Sorry for the long story but history is important. I replaced the sensor and that problem went away. As soon as I replaced the CPS it now acts like a gas motor that's out of timing. I've got a knock just above idle. It idles smooth. If I push on the throttle and get great boost it will stutter hard, not like before. I can only describe it as acting like a gas motor out of timing.
Was the old CPS black, and the new one grey or blue? For some reason, some people find the new CPSs don't idle as well as the old black ones. On the other hand, the black ones were known for meeting their doom suddenly and often.

The old one is black/ I tried calling several places trying to find a black one. I've been told the black ones are made by international.??
Can you monitor Injector Control Pressure(ICP)? I had a similar issue as your original symptoms and it turned out to be the ICP sensor. You could have had more than 1 thing going on.
