So frustrated, CPS Sensor

my 2000 Ford F350 7.3 Lariat 4x4 EATS up Camshaft position sensors. I had it changed at a shop recently with someone i trust, easy easy thing to do. ran fine. but died occasionally. month and a half later to the present. it dies slowing down to red lights or idling at a stop sign, or sometimes skips out completely while driving. if its in park and idling it might fluctuate from 900 to 500 rpms or cut out completely and go back up. its not safe and im tired of this happening, HELP PLEASE!!

Are you using an aftermarket or OEM CPS?

Aftermarket so far, the grey ones from Orilley's. I've heard the. Black or dark blue ones are better but can't find one.

Sounds more like a sticky IPR to me, does it have the tin nut on it and is it tight?

Be a bit more vague... IPR? Tin run? I'm sorry I don't know what that is.

The IPR (injector pressure regulator) controls the HPOP (High pressure oil pump). The nut on the back (tin nut) along with the spacer holds the solenoid onto the IPR. It is located in the rear of the HPOP here

In the center of the engine up front is the HPOP. On the drivers side of that is the IPR.
It should have a tin nut holding the coil on, if its loose or off it will change your high pressure oil to the injectors or not work at all. Take a look. Always go OEM on sensors!

I agree... What makes you so sure its the CPS? What you describe doesn't really fit the CPS failure algorithm much at all...

You should also only be using OEM CPS. They are readily available from a number of online retailers or any Ford dealer.

Instead of being snappy, try a Google search. Were here to help.

Sorry if that came off "snappy" didn't mean for it to come off that way.
But what would you recommend I do and or check the IPR? The tin nut? Tighten them? Change them? Or what? I really appreciate it!! Thanks a lot

The tin nut tends to fall off into the valley, then the solenoid part slides around.

They also tend to get stuck internally with age. You really need some way to read live data for us to do more than guess what the problem is, though.

billy_ray90, I am in Ezzell. I can come by and take a look. I work in Victoria everyday and could come by one day after work and look at what everyone is telling you and show it to you first hand.
