Ok. I replaced my VSS about a month ago or so. I had no speedometer, O/D light was blinking ABS light was on and the transmission was shifting at high RPMs plus I had a lot of dead rev after each time I let off the fuel paddle and got back on (like let off the fuel coming down a hill or just slowing for an intersection) I'd have to rev up to about 2500 RPMs to get it into gear. After I replaced the VSS it all got better. Well Saturday it happened again. All of it! So I hightailed it down to napa got another one replaced it again but this time it didn't work. Does anyone have any ideas? Thanks -Z

I'd be inclined to go back to NAPA and get another one telling them it was bad out of the box. Or maybe to Motorcraft since NAPA is probably importing some cheap thing made in China. But that's just a guess.
Also check your harness. I changed the VSS on a 94 E350 mtr Home and had similar issues. Started peeling back the harness and had sh---y connections from a previous repair. Replaced the pigtail and redid conntions and problem went away.
Hope this helps
Good Luck

Thanks a lot guys. I'll do both but this time I'll go with Motorcraft. Is there a way I can check the connections before replacing them? I did see some cables exposed while I was under there but they didn't look broken. Of course they could be damaged where I couldn't see. Will a multimeter o the trick? That pig tail looked a little beat up but it fit well onto the VSS. Sorry my mind has been going around in circles for the past couple of days... -Z
