06 F-250 Lariat:
Bought a new tag along 2 horse trailer and when towing it home, turning sharp, had a beep / tone happen. It happened in mid turn, only lasted a couple of seconds. This has happened 3 times now, doesn't matter left or right. Nothing seems to be affected.
I have towed 2 different goose neck trailers and at least half a dozen other tag along trailers with no beeping. It sounds like a seat belt alarm tone.
I was thinking the built in brake controller may have lost connection momentarily. Any thoughts?
Yeah that's most likely what it is. If you hear it look at the dash where the mileage is. It should say trailer disconnected on it, I have found this happens a lot when I pull my horse trailer, due to having to use a 7 pin adapter with it, really gets annoying after awhile. But when I use all my other trailers that use a 7 pin it never happens
If you want to confirm this, you can hit the buttons on the brake controller when no trailer is connected - I think it makes a sound. See if that matches the sound you heard.
