Pictures first.

The motor seems to be working fine -- is there any way I cam remount these? Are these weldable? I welcome creative ideas!

Thanks!

You could try a couple of 2-hole pipe straps like the one below. You'll have to determine the correct size and you might have to give it a bend here or there.

That is a great idea! Do you think I will have to get two straps each (8 total)?
How would I be able to verify it will hold the weight?

Thank you!

Yes I would go with 2 straps at each location. If you get straps that are (HW) for heavy wall, they are thicker and stronger. Poke around the plumbing and electrical isles at your local hardware store to see what they have.

OHH so 16 total. Great idea.
I guess it's time to go tour the home stores! Thanks again!

16? Isn't there only 4 locations around the vehicle, making it 2*4 for a total of 8 straps?

Yes -- My mistake.
Someone else suggested U-bolts. They look sturdier than straps.. Are they?

U-bolt are a good idea because you can get them in grade-5 and grade-8 materials. The two downsides in comparison to the 2-hole straps is they are much more expensive and they have a rounded surface instead of flat. The roundness puts pressure on a smaller area of the part and over time could possibly cause cracking at the point of contact.

Good idea. I did something very similar and was able to keep my running boards up and running for about another year or so. Unfortunately the crap metal of the mounts continued to dissolve until that failed to. I ended up with a set of non moving aftermarket plastic boards. Good luck.

How did you do it? Reading your post makes me wonder if I should put plates between u bolts and the piece.

I didn't use u bolts exactly I made similar brackets out of steel and bolts. Same principal though. But my stock brackets continued to go away and get loose. Finally they didn't line up and wouldn't work.

Did you ever look at an auto recycler for those parts? U bolting or strapping is only a band aid as others have suggested...

Diverdom, could you tell me what you did in detail? I just realized that the upper bolts are not part of the piece. That makes me to think I can only use one U bolt each location (4 total) and I don't think it'd be enough to hold.

I have not -- I wouldn't think they'd part out the running board to sell the piece only. Would they?

U bolt idea is a conclusion I reached under the assumption that getting the broken pieces is impractical. If you have any ideas, please share!
