1999 inertia switch woes

my 99 7.3 will run with the inertia switch off, if I reset switch truck idles rough and dies, any help very appreciated

Comment, questions, and a bump to the top...

If it runs fine with the inertia switch off, do that and drive away happy.

Otherwise... any smoke? If you have a CEL on, got a code reader that actually works with these trucks? How does the fuel filter look? Oil level?
