hey all, just picked up a 2000 extended cab short bed 4x4 7.3. the truck is in northeast shape, with rust here and there, some on the doors, none on the rockers and scale on the frame. the truck is my DD has 114k on it and a new ford reman trans 8k ago. it runs great, but will need some love and i have some plans for it. i plan to put my fisher on there first and foremost, gotta get ready for next season already lol, next, since its a 250, its going to get 350 front springs, undercoated, and then all the plow stuff will go on, to avoid installing pushplates twice. my truck leaks fuel at the moment, about a half dollar spot when its running, the first place i will check is the fuel bowl, and that little valve on there. which leads me to my whole point of starting this thread, i plan on pulling the motor on the truck, its gonna have the basic 4 inch turbo back exhaust and intake before that but heres my plan at the moment when i pull the motor:
glow plugs
glow plug relay
exhaust manifolds, and up pipes (which are best?)
possibly rebuild turbo, maybe add wicked wheel
change fuel lines
change trans cooler lines which run behind the engine
re seal/clean up a mess of stuff
basic maintenance, coolant, hoses, belt, all fluids, change HPOP oil
maybe new HPOP (again which is best?)
gut the turbo pedestal
now if anyone has anything to add, which mods i should do while the engine is on a stand, like which HPOP is available, or which up pipes i should buy, which exhaust manifolds are good? im not looking for crazy power, just an improvement over stock performance, and i know theres a bunch of international parts that are better than the ones ford used and all that, so any insight is appreciated. i want to get a final list together, and cover my bases ONCE, when it starts to get warm out. if there are any other parts that are common problems, and should be rebuilt or swapped out, or if theres a better version out there, for ex. 6.0vs 6.4 banjo bolts, just something that will work better and yield better performance in the parameters of that system. thanks. sorry for the long post, just wanna get everything covered, and underway as soon as it gets warm, i figure itll take me a solid week, and maybe 2 weekends to get this DONE start to finish. thanks.
