Rims

Does anybody have 18s on an Ex that isn't lifted? I don't have any interest in raising it up at least right now. So wondering how many have 16s and what the biggest tire they can fit are or 18s and same deal??

Also want to know if the 18s that fit without spacers are steel or aluminum?

Pics would be sweet.

Those 18's are pretty sought after since they are the only factory 18's that fit our Ex's without spacers.

I guess I will then, I thought for sure those 16s wouldn't need spacers. Both seem priced very well so was going either way. Are the 18s steel??

The particular rim you posted looks Alloy. You can always be sure by tossing a magnet on it. If it sticks, steel, if it doesn't stick, alloy.

[EDIT] Poor link choice on my part. See WE3ZS provides details below.

Once Ford updated the SD trucks in '05 the minimum wheel size became 17" due to brake caliper clearence, so 16"s (This applies to OEM factory rims only of course) are pre '05 wheels and OK for our EXs. I think Sammie and Duckfan both run those chrome steelies.

The '04 SD (Lariat, King Ranch and Harley-Davidson) 18" rims linked to are (for Lariat and KR versions) aluminum with a polished finish on the face and painted pocket holes (can be silver or tan/gold depending on original application) and the aluminum H-D ones are chromed with a red H-D logo on one spoke. Since they are for '04 SD trucks they will also fit all model year EXs without need of spacers. This series of 18" are the ONLY Ford factory plus sized rims (over 16") that will fit correctly on our EXs without needing spacers. These rims are also 8" wide as compared to the 7" wide factory Ex rims, better for wider tires if thats in your plans.

The rims in this link are all for '05+ SD trucks, so they would need 2" hubcentric spacers to sit in the same location under our EXs. Ford made big changes on the SD trucks in '05, the '05 Ex was already scheduled for EXtinction so the mighty EXs didn't get the running gear changes in '05. All '05 EXs run carry-over suspensions from '04.

Well I'm buying those 18s then if anybody wants the 16s they are only $150 on craigslist, my dad has 2 new and never even put on rubber HD's but doesn't know if they are 18s or 20s getting back to me this weekend. But I think it'll be more expensive to buy 2 of those than it would be to get these 4 18s.
