The reason you cant mix is because it is illeagal not that they are not compaible. The enviro stuff will actually mix very well with either, works better than both and is cheaper. BUT the feds say dont mix, so if you do its on you. I first did the enviro just so I wouldnt have to drain all the r-12 out of my system. However it worked so good, that I switched all my stuff over to it. I am in AZ and here you might as well not have 134, it just doesnt work well enough.

I got an update, I feel like a complete retard lol I jumped the low side switch and the compressor works just clicks a little but it might be from not having any oil in it for such a long time but anyway I went to test psi on the low side service port and the damn things already been retrofitted to R134a! I couldnt test at the low side due to my fitting on the guage being messed up but high side was 30psi....so I'm gonna vacuum it and get some r-134a, fill it up and test for leaks.

Oh, and R134A and R12 use different oils. Either works fine, but a mixture of both doesn't, apparently.
Usually, though, doesn't the oil come in a separate can?

Yep, and ester is compatible with both so it's what you do with a conversion that has old parts in case there is residue.

I buy the bottle and pour it in directly. You have to open the system up anyway to change the o-rings.
