Hey guys my steering is fairly loose and I think I might have finally found the culprit. Not sure what this part is called, it runs from that join at the firewall to the steering box. Now when I grab that part I can move it with no effort with my fingers, and it feels like the same kind of play that I can feel from the wheel, would this fix my problem? I know that with the loose steering issue there are many different troubled points, but is this a good place to start?
The steering has always been a little off but in the last couple weeks its become really loose, the front suspension is all tight thats when I noticed that the shaft might be the problem, I shouldn't be able to move so easily right?
You need someone to lightly wiggle the steering wheel while you inspect the shaft and other parts for movement.
There is a double D part of the shaft that has a leaf spring inside it. If this spring is lost or broken, you will see play in the double D part of the shaft.
