Hello im a diesel newbie i have two idi 7.3 crew cab duallys 89,91. Well yesterday while driving the 89 it stalled out on me but it will start back up i recently put it up for sale before that started and i want to know what the issue may be, granted i havent had it long i bought it about two weeks ago but since my 91 is better built for my towing project im working i figured i made a unnecessary purchase and im selling so can anyone help me so that i can inform any person interested the issue. I work on gas engines so i have know how but im kinda lost when it comes to diesels.
Okay so as you can see in the title I have a 88 f250 7.3 idi and I'm having the same issue. My truck starts and purrs like a cat but when I drive it and get into 3rd gear. As I decelerate my truck what's to stall out. If I stop and let it run for a minute then it works itself back to a regular idle with a couple revs of the engine. It will run all day until I drive. When I cut it of I do get a strong smell of diesel, I'm not sure if that's part of but I figured I'd through it out there.
Can anybody help me with this please. I can't figure anything out and as a new comer to this website, I dont feel very welcome. I really need help I'm in the dumps here. I cannot afford to have a mechanic toss my money around.(money I dont have).

Welcome to the forum SlowRoll. Unfortunately I'm no diesel mechanic, so I'm not exactly sure what might be causing your issue. I'd suggest you start a new thread of your own, there's a button in the top left corner on the forum page where you can do so. In your thread, try to describe your issue in detail, listing the exact symptoms, when they occur, and any diagostics/tests you've performed.
There's a lot of old heads on here that can help you out, but you have to start your own discussion first. Here's hoping it all works out for ya!
