Hi all, I was a little leary about the LMC grill shell after reading a lot of bad about them on here. Well I can tell you that the chromed steel grill that I just installed fits Perfect, I could not believe how good it fits. I would say as good as an original, and I have owned over a dozen dentsides. Just thought I would let you all know. thanks.
Did it come in Dennis Carpenter or NPD box, by chance? lol Sounds like you got real lucky, because all I have ever is bad news about there grill shells too.
What kind of a warranty does it have against corrosion? I'd suggest keeping it polished, sealed, and even waxed. Bimbos extreme makes one he** of a good metal polish and sealer.
The grille shell I bought from LMC fits fine. The only issue I had with it was that one of the square holes for the inserts to screw the grill into wasn't completely punched. There was a square outline where the stamp hit it, but it didn't punch it out. A couple minutes with a drill and a small file fixed that easily enough.
LMC recently started selling OE-stamped aluminum and custom-stamped steel grille shells. When you hear bad things about LMC grille shells, you're probably hearing about the original wobbly ones that you can get elsewhere on the internet for under $200. I don't believe LMC sells those anymore. The new shells are supposedly much higher quality.
