Billet Grill?

I'm thinking about adding a billet grill to my X and was wondering what kind work best? I've seen they have ones that bolt directly over the existing stock grill & they also have ones where you need to cut out the stock grill & replace with the billet center & side pieces.

Do the bolt over ones look cheesy? I would think they would stick out a little since it is bolting on top of the factory grill & can you see the factory grill behind it?

How hard is it to cut out the factory grill in order to install the billet pieces? Do you actually have to "cut out" the grill or are the factory pieces just screwed in?

Thanks

I put a billet grill on my 2000 X Limited. I didn't have to cut anything out. The middle grill and the 2 small side grill came out with just a few bolts. The grill i got was from a company that made it themselves, so that being said it was cheaper in cost up I did have to go buy somes stainless bolts and all. Other then that it is good quility and looks great. If you want a pic of it i can send you one. Forward your email.

I'm not a fan of the grills that go over the factory grill. But thats my opinion.

Hope this helps.

Remember to wave at you X and SD friends while driving.

I added a billet grill to my 2000 x due to some breakage in the original stock grill when I forgot to unplug my plow wires before backing away from the plow. I bought an APC billet grill (stole it really) on ebay. This grill required me to cut out the plastic edges off my stock grill to accomodate a good fit. This billet requires no bolts....basically held in place when you bolt the original grill frame back into place.

I bought it for 5.00 plus shipping!! It sells for 150.00! With this billet you can leave the side grilles separate or cut them out and have billet full face. I chose the second option and gives my x a unique look. There are quite a few excursions in my area but none have a grille like mine.

I put a Putco Stainless grille on my X. I just felt it looked a lot better than the aluminum. The putco grill is really made well and they have many choices to choose from. I ent with the virtual tubular grille. A bit expensive but it looks good with my 22 inch chrome Panther Realm wheels and 305/45 22 tires.

My factory grille cracked, and I replaced it last weekend with a stull industries grille. it is part #6099 it also comes chrome #6099c. it looks great and took 10 minutes to replace. remove your existing grille, four screws, and screw the new one in very simple. the new shell goes on top. it was around $240 shipped, try summitt racing or jeg's mail order.

yes, I have a blacked out 2002 X (ebony clearcoat) the stull 6099 is the blacked out one it comes with the shell primed dark gray/ black that can be painted black or any color and the grille is blacked out with just the front part of the fins gray for acent, they look dark....the 6099C is the same but chrome. If you want pics go to summit racing, stull products, then type in the part #, or I can e-mail you my picutes.
