Alright. My dad's truck, 2000 F-250 CC 4x4 w/V-10 300,000 miles. He just had the engine light come on. P0720 was the code received. He does plow with the truck and the only other thing I can think of is the muffler fell off the other day. So it stops before the muffler. I had done some research and some say a sensor in the tailshaft of the tranny, some say COPS, some alternator, water in a connector. So I am at a loss? Anybody have any idea as to one of the more common reasons to get a P0720 code and guide me as to where to start?
As previous post says PO720 vehicle speed sensor located on top of the rear differential . You may have to replace it . Also check the wiring for any damage from broken muffler.
Seth, didnt you buy AE like about a month ago? I know you were talking about it but not sure if you pulled the trigger on it. If you did hook it up and see what it points to.

No, it isn't the vehicle speed sensor. The problem is the OUTPUT speed sensor on the back, top of the transmission. It is NOT the vehicle speed sensor on the rear diff. He's just leading you down the wrong path.

I did. I haven't been able to get it to work yet. I tried on my 7.3 with no success. It's been to freaking cold to try again. I need to though.
