Good morning everybody, hope all are safe.
I took advantage of the weather we had yesterday and changed the oil in my 2011 F150 Super Crew 5.0. We bought it used this last September with just under 19k on the clock.
The dealer we bought it from had a reminder/decal on the glass for the next oil change but I'm going by the monitoring system that's in the truck. When I changed the oil it still had 4% oil life left and had almost 5,700 miles on that oil. It still had a completely full crank case, and the oil was beautiful, it looked like it could have been re-bottled and sold again.
I'm using the Motorcraft 5W-20 synthetic blend, and Motorcraft filter. They served me well on everything else.
I'm quite a bit thicker than the truck is higher from the ground. My gut stopped me at the running boards. But I didn't notice any thing that I could hit with a grease gun. My last truck was an 01 and had a couple anyway, that we're "OE".
So did I miss anything, that you all know about, but I couldn't get too.

Unfortunate result from people that never would grease anything..... which accounts for most buyers and even oil change places. A non greasable component will last longer than a greasable one that never sees grease.
Ford dealerships would prefer that you have them do all servicing. That's not in order to maintain your warranty, it's strictly to put money in their pockets.
To the OP, nothing to grease on these trucks. Interesting that at 5700 miles your oil was as clean as you stated. The oil in my 11 5.0 is mighty dark by the time 5000 miles have passed. 4% left at 5700 miles, makes me wonder if the dealer reset the oil life monitor or reset it to a shorter interval.

That could be, but they did have a decal in the upper corner of the windshield that added 3K for the next oil change. But I'm using the monitoring system for the truck, and the wife's 08 Escape too. I have a habit that I picked up from the "older" mechanics from when I was starting out 30 something years ago. Putting a finger in the old oil and check to see if I could still see my fingerprints.
Doing that, my finger looked l just put it in new oil. Not that I had clear to yellow oil coming out of the pan.
Good report, Unk. I could be wrong (one time, I THOUGHT I was...), but seems I've noticed that full synthetic oil get dirty looking quicker than semi synthetic. Maybe it's cleaning better. Seems strange to me that it showed 4% life and still looked so clean.
How was filter mess to replace? I hate messy oil filter changes. Get the mess in me eyes, shirts, dirtier than a mudder in a two wheel drive.
I use Motorcraft Synthetic Blend oil, and Motorcraft filter in everything. I did notice that there is a tray under the oil filter and I was happy to see that it had a place off of it that the oil would normally go to and you could catch it in the drain pan. BUT, the oil never made it that far, it ALL went out on the back side of the cross member, leaving an oil spot about the size of an adult skull on the driveway. I'm not wild about an oil mess either.

A general note about those commenting on "dirty" oil, looking at oil color is not an accurate way to tell it's useful life. Tom had posted up some resources on that in this post HERE. An oil analysis is really the only way to determine how an oil/engine is performing.
Changing the oil filter is an exercise in making a mess.......what a crappy design.
I agree!!!!! Two other things that kinda bother me as far as design...why the He!! would they leave the fill on the valve cover instead of raising it up with some kind of snorkel and the dipstick...extend that up too!!!!!
Sounds like the oil had been changed without resetting the monitoring system. The oil life expectancy is calculated from the driving conditions. It doesn't really "know" the condition of the oil. Since you bought the truck from a dealer there's a pretty good chance that they changed the oil before they put it up for sale.
There is an oil filler extender that fits the 5.4L that can be used on the 5.0L...can't find the part number right now, but I have seen it listed before.
