I have a 74 truck that I bought for the drive train and it had permanent front hubs. I want to have the option to unlock them, so I went to buy locking hubs and the guy asked if the transfer case was all time 4x4. This is what I know:
The **** has 4H, N, 2H and 4L.
If I shift through the different positions and turn the input yoke (driveshafts disconnected) outputs behave as the **** shows.
1) How can I know if it is converted or needs to be?
2) If I only put lockable hubs on what is the problem with that?
usually fixed hubs mean a full time t-case. The only option for that is an NP203. Look under the truck to see if you can find the tag on the t-case. NP203 is full time NP205 is part time. Also if you notice the t-case is quite large and long thats a 203...about 180lbs to give you an idea of large.
