Engine Compatibility?
I have a 1997 Mazda B4000 (Ranger) with the 4.0L V6. I am looking for a replacement engine. I found a 2002 Ranger parts truck for sale. The Ranger is one model newer than my truck, but it is still a 4.0L V6 automatic. Will the engine drop in for me without a ton of mods, or should I find an engine closer to the year of my truck?

The '02 4.0L is a different animal than your '97 4.0L. The former is a Single Overhead Camshaft (SOHC) design, whereas the latter is an Overhead Valve (OHV) design.
Your best bet is to find something in the '97-'00 range.
