Need Help

Hello , I have a 2005 F -350. With a EGR delete, 4"turbo back exhaust, and a SCT Tuner (running in street mode). Twice this week truck has just died. Turned key off and it started right back up. First time got code that CPS was bad, second time # 8 injector. Cleared both codes ran fine for a day, when cold feels like it is missing, but once warm no issues. Don't want to be dead on side of road what's wrong?

Thanks in advance.

What kind of diagnostic tools do you have access to? Any recent work? Maintenance stuff up to date (oil & fuel filters etc)? What conditions when it died? Accelerating, stopping etc.

Welcome to FTE!

CPS is a relatively easy repair and will cause it to quit running.

You can get a false CPS code for a number of reasons, a stall event being the biggest. Check the CPS plug for oil also as the O-rings fail and cause a bad signal. With a #8 "injector code" you have 3 options so please post the specific code.

Yes maintenance is up to date. Just using the DTC code reader on the programmer. It was code P0284

You might want to do a bubble test. The CPS code could have been from the truck dying. Search bubble test and run6.0run has a good video of how to do it. I think it's under a thread titled "aftermarket parts".

Sounds like your going to need a Gauge to read live Data, CPS FICM ICP would be a good place to start you can unhook the ICP connection and it should start, could be the ICP connection.

May be a wire chaffing issue. A definite on the scangauge. You need to watch for crank cam sync during your no start.

Unplug icp and see if it will start. If so plug it back in then unplug #8 injector and see what happens.
My guess is a shorted spool valve.

Got a scan gauge 2, My readings are this

ICP was 1600 at cold startup as truck warmed up dropped to 600
FICM main mower 48.5 never dropped below 48
Sync 0 then 1 idling
Is there anything else I need to monitor?

Thanks

Post IPCV ( volts). you can do a wiggle test at the ICP connection where the grey clip holds the 3 wires, make sure truck is running when you do this. if it stumbles or stalls you need a new pig tail
