Both my trucks have the SD IC's in them, all aluminum. I think what Ronney is saying is that the blow by oil will weaken the inlet and outlet plastic connections by lubing them with oil increasing the chance of blowing them off. Unless you go 'big' power, I don't think you have to worry about it.

I agree, but you can do the CCV mode.

What year SD's have the aluminum intercoolers?

I have done the CCV mod, and my engine really has very little blow by. The cooler I have came with boots and I did notice they were a bit oiley. I am planning on new ones though.

The all aluminum intercoolers were in all the SD's, I think. Like late 99 thru 03. I also have done the ccv mod but there still a little oil that gets in there. Use those spring loaded clamps, they are great. I haven't blown one off yet!

I'm not sure when Ford changed to the plastic tanks on the intercooler, but the 7.3s could have either. I think the early years had the all aluminum coolers, and the late years had the plastic tanks.
