2012 Explorer windshield wiper problem
Follow-up...I was able to remedy the falling-off-wiper blades with two strategically-placed black zip-ties. One through the end hole to prevent the wiper from totally leaving the vehicle to be forever lost and a second one, the strategically placed zip-tie, wrapped around the wiper adjacent to the 'arrow-head retention clips' but clearing the block of plastic below.
Now, I am experiencing the same issues as mentioned above. In the OFF position, the wipers make periodic sweeps across the windshield. They park in the correct location, they simply dry-wipe the windshield in steady sweeps. Fortunately they cycle in the slower of the intermittent speeds.
Since the first issues were reported one-and-a-half-years ago, Crystal, instead of simply funneling us to the Ford dealer how about do a bit of research...since you are working for and with Ford, you have their ear. Please find out what the remedy for this problem actually is. It must be either mechanical (switch, relay, etc) or software. Ask Ford and report-back. Have they replaced the Multi-Function Stalk? Have they replaced relays? At this point I do not believe that these are isolated cases and feel that enough owners have simply driven to their dealers for repairs, there must be a history of repairs at Ford. Ask questions and get us answers. Thank you.

KDUB21 Mine took two visits, the first one was a 're-flash' of the control ware, was supposed to have fixed it, drove home, not fixed...second visit was a replacement of the 'module', roughly $100 (first visit) + $300 (second visit) = $400 later all fixed. Good luck, what seems like a pretty cut-and-dried identification and fix seemed to be more like a mystery to them, why the re-flash was not confirmed to work is beyond me, the module fix should have been identified before I drove out of there at the first visit.
Thank you. Ok, dealer determined multi function switch needs to be replaced. We have around 42k miles on vehicle...

Hi Kacooper,
Yep, I'm a member of Ford's Social Media team. We have folks on Facebook, Twitter, and forums like this one. I've been with Ford for about three years now. If you decide to head to your local Ford Dealership for diagnosis, let me know so I'll be able to check out some ways to assist.

The dealership is closed for holiday vacations, so am thinking of going to a local garage, but would like to know what to tell them to fix.
Another user posted the following on the 6.7L Power Stroke Diesel forum:
"I wanted to update everyone on the resolution to this issue. I took the truck to another dealer that was able to diagnose and fix the problem. I was told I had to pay my $100 deductible. They replaced the wiper control switch in the cab. "
I see kdub21 had the same issue and it's pointing to the switch as well. I have about the same mileage on my explorer (70000 km).
This isn't an isolated case any more. Someone at Ford has to be clued in by now (it's even across platforms).
Thanks!

2012 F-350 wiper won't shut off
Same problem as everybody else, wiper defaults to slow intermittent and will not shut-off even after turning the truth know off and on, why
has Ford not issued a recall?
This is unacceptable!

Wake up Ford, communicate amongst yourselves, issue a RECALL
Anthony Perrone- I absolutely agree, this issue is far too common, Ford should be ashamed of themselves...and Crystal on this site contributes nothing, zero, no explanation, all she does is funnel us victims of poor quality to the Ford Dealerships. She acts each and every time as if this is news to her. Ford must have a ' pretty thick file ' of these cases, and that is another annoying thing, take your vehicle in to remedy this and they act as if they never heard of the issue...you are one of the lucky ones if you get through this service charade in one vist for a 'mere' $300...Ford should be pretty happy that they have customers, not treat us like dirt...
2013 explorer wipers don't go off
I have a 2013 explorer and the wipers stay on intermittent and never go off. This started at 48k miles about 8 months ago and I haven't seen a post where ford admits a manufacturer's fix.
Hi Sam,
It sounds like it's time to bring this to the attention of your dealership so they can help. Let us know how things go; give me a shout via PM if you need my assistance following your appointment. Be sure to include your full name, best daytime phone number, VIN, mileage, and servicing dealership so I can start investigating options.

PaulRF---it has been two years but mine was repaired in two Dealer visits totaling $400 out-of-pocket. See my posts further down. This is not consumer wear-and-tear and in my opinion should be covered. It is far too common even by the number of posts on this thread. I am guessing by your lack of stating the issue that you are not experiencing this, but, are your wiper blades falling off at the slightest touch? Mine do, my fix after unsuccessfully replacing the blades was zip ties, I must have two bad wiper arms. Anyway, good luck with the repair, hopefully by now they recognize this problem as a design flaw or cheaply-specified parts and take care of you.
