gp testing

Hi all haven't been on here for a while. Working on a glow plug problem on a '97 F350. I know there's a sticky for this but I thought I'd just share what I learned. I had trouble with the ole girl starting when cold and had to plug it in. Thinking it was glow plugs I just put it off for a while until I finally got fed up with it not starting when away from home. I pulled it in the shop and started checking the plugs through the plug in on the uvch pins. All but one checked out fine. I checked them with an ohmmeter and they all were the same resistance except for the bad one. So I thought I would try using my clamp on amp meter to see what each plug would draw for power. I used a jumper wire with alligator clips to power the plugs from the main power wire for the gpr. I had a new one in hand and checked the amp draw on it and it read 21 at first and started dropping down to about 10 amps after 10 seconds. So I checked the known good plugs in the truck and they all checked the same. So I knew for sure that I needed a new gpr. Now she starts great even with one bad plug. Don't know if this helps anyone but I thought I'd share anyway.
