I have a 2002 f250 7.3 4x4. I was slowing down the other day and about to turn in my driveway and my brake pedal went to the floor and I about messed myself...... Well after looking around I found my brake booster was leaking in my firewall. Well I buy a new one and I installed it yesterday. I noticed a bit of rust in the bottom of the booster. And there wasn't any fluid to come out when I took the master cylinder off the booster. I bleed the power steering return line into a jug and replaced what I bled out. Well I bled my brakes even though i didn't have to just to get rid of some old fluid. Well my brakes still go to the floor when applied and I notice its harder to turn when I pump the brake and the power steering pump has a whine to it. Im frustrated and need some advice. It seems like once a year I spend a few grand on it.
Sounds like your power steering pump is gone. The power steering pump controls brakes and power steering.
EDIT: When mine went out my brake pedal had a pulse
