well... it is an intermittent problem where some times the wont start the vehicle.. Mechanically speaking it "seemed" that i was having to apply more pressure and or crank it farther over to get the vehicle to start. I figured out how to remove it but i have no idea what the prob is??? put it all back together and it starts ... but as i said it is an intermittent problem and we all know when those decide to rear their ugly heads

Ignition what? There are SEVERAL components that start the vehicle.

By cranking it farther....do you mean holding the key in the start position longer before it'll start?

What did you take apart and put back together?

Any codes?

Does it sound weak when it doesn't want to start? Or does it just take longer than normal to start?

what I mean is some times you turn the key and you get absolutely nothing. the first time it happened my doors where open for awhile and i assumed that i had run the battery down.

Again yesterday while working the doors where open and when I went to leave...nothing. had my client jump it and we sat there foe awhile the finally it started with full strength turnover. drove to the store came out wouldnt start. This time i checked lights and they where full bright. It was at this moment that I was remembering the ignition seemed at times in the past like I had to grab it with my thumb on the bottom and rotate it all the way in order to engage. Today I removed it to look for any visual problems and then re installed,,,, it fired right up. Again this seems to be an intermittent prob???

The lights can run bright on low voltage. But the van needs full voltage to start. Have the battery checked for starters.

As for ignition, you have to be more specific, are you talking about the key cylinder?

There is a pin in the back of the key cylinder that could be causing the issue. Get a new one, they are relatively inexpensive. Try that and see what happens. If its not that, there may be an issue further in the steering column.

Sounds like a bad ground. Don't take this wrong, but you Need to take it to someone who knows what they're doing.

I am inclined to agree here with you baddad. There is just no way to REALLY tell what it is. And it sounds like it is going to be a tad challenging for ya. Unless you feel adventurous. But these types of parts are VERY sensitive and it doesn't take much to break it. Then there is the airbag in there to consider....one wrong move and pop!
