Going to DPF off

I have been running my truck with the stock exhaust, and on Monday I am having the Flo Pro installed. My question is, H&S wants you to install the DPF delete program before you remove the exhaust. If I were removing the exhaust myself this would not be a problem, but I am going to have to run the install in the parking lot of the service shop and then leave it with them. When they work it in they will have to start the motor(now tuned for DPF delete, but with the DPF still installed) an pull it into the garage to work on it. Is this going to cause a problem, is it no big deal, or should I wait and tune it after the exhaust goes on?

Thx for the advice.

Go ahead and tune it before they do the exhaust, otherwise it will throw codes, probably go into limp mode.

I had the DPF and Cat deleted today with a Flo Pro down Pipe back 5" exhaust with muffler, and I installed the HD tune on the Mini Max and set it to street(225).

I have to say, the truck sounds and runs 100x better. You can feel the throttle response right off the bat, with out the old sluggish delay- it just gets up and goes. I haven't run the trans learn runs yet, and I haven't even opened it up yet, but you can feel the power that is there just driving it around town. I need to get out of the typical rush hour schedule to to try to open it up, but living in the city makes this tough. It is still shifting a little hard, but I assume(and hope) this will iron itself out as the transmission gets used to the new power. I also noticed my EGT's dropped about 100-200 degrees on average just driving around town- a nice surprise.

I don't really plan on running it hard, but so far I am very happy with the Flo Pro and Mini Max combo. I will be curious to see what the MPG difference will be, but I am expecting 1-2 MPG, and would be thrilled with 2-3!

I'm sure you will notice a mileage increase without that stupid DPF on there - I did!

Although it is hard to keep my foot off the throttle now...

You will be alot happier now. As stated before its hard to keep your foot out of it now. So the mileage will be hard to tell until you put an egg under the pedal.lol

WOW....I just did the trans learn runs with the Street tuning(I didn't even try the 300). The tires wanted to spin from 0-30MPH and then pulls straight to 80 in seconds. The nice thing was the oil temp, trans temp and EGT's didn't budge after the run. They went right back to normal. I did start to defuel on the Boost which I have set at 35, but that was plenty of power for me. Very satisfied with this mod combo.

I hear you...the only reason I opened it up was to do the trans learn function. I ran it briefly on the stock tune, which is around 50hp, and with the exhaust it was plenty for what I was looking for. I just have to find the best tune for my driving that gives me the best MPG. I am going uder the assumption that the more aggressive tunes provide the best MPG, which is why I have it tuned to the HD tunes.

Thx for all of the advice over the last several weeks. This site was key for my learning curve about this truck!

Hey KR, I appreciate the reports back on your changes/results. Really helps me feel justification for spending the $$ lol. I'll be looking for this setup soon.

Too late now but I never did the trans learn thing, it learned all by itself after a couple of days. Sure makes for a lot happier truck.

KR250,
Have had the Mini now for over 70000miles, it is a good mod.
Curious tho--you said EGTs dropped, how were you monitoring them before the Mini?

I was not monitoring them before the mini max, but I ran the mini max with the DPF and Cat on for a couple f weeks before deleting the DPF and Cat and installing the Flo Pro. My comparison was before and after the DPF and Cat delete.
