OK, so I have oil in my coolant, but no coolant in my oil. I have recently pulled my ECR cooler, which is in great shape and not clogged, also have pulled the Oil cooler which appears to be fine, have not tested yet. What would I test it to? The oil in the oil cooler well is blacker than an Alaskan night, no appearance of water. I am going all the way down to the heads and replace everything. Do I need to be checking anything else? I would be worried putting it back together and not finding an issue. Thanks for your time today.
Are you sure it is oil in the coolant? Check if it smells like diesel fuel in the degas bottle. (cracked head or injector cup if diesel in coolant)
Regarding the EGR cooler, EGR cooler wouldn't necessarily be clogged, more so the worry would be leaking between oil and coolant. Clogged oil cooler could cause overheating of EGR cooler and possible breach due to excessive heat of exhaust on non-flowing EGR cooler. Maybe oil cooler exploded.
almost positive, missing about 6 quarts out of the sump. I think I am going to have the heads cleaned and checked. Having it tore down this far it is just common sense.

Well, if you're losing crank case oil, then you're probably right about the link. As I recall, oil in the cooling system is more than likely an exploded oil cooler. Is there a gray sludge in the degas bottle?
Also, maybe head gasket or warped head? Just re-read your post. 6 Quarts of oil??? What do you see in the cooling system that looks like oil?

Sounds a lot like an exploded oil cooler to me. Oil pressure higher than pressure in cooling system and leaks in, churned up and gray sludge puking out of degas bottle.
What were your EOT and ECT temps prior to tearing down. After I installed gauges I was way outside Fords 15 degree limit. During tear down I pressurized the oil side of my oil cooler and lost pressure through the coolant side.
Prior to tear down I did not have any oil in my coolant. I just caught it prior to complete failure.
These temps are critical to knowing the health of the 6.0.
Since you are going in that far I would highly recommend either deleting or replacing your EGR cooler with one from bulletproof diesel.
Make sure you use factory head gaskets when you reinstall the heads.
If you replace the Oil Cooler make sure you order a new HPOP inlet screen for under the cooler. They are very cheap.
Lastly do not replace Oil Cooler with a Dorman ensure it is a Ford Cooler. All to many threads on here have reported failures with the Dorman. The 150 bucks you may save now may cost thousands later.
Yes, as of right now I have all ford parts from the dealer, I would not do it any different. Is it possible to remove the wire from the glow plugs without the special tool? I am down to removing the cylinder head bolts.
I do not know what my temps were prior to teardown, I was afraid to start after this happened due to the possibility of hydraulic lock. My temps did not look abnormal coming back from New Orleans. I keep a good watch on my gauges.
