D you still have an original FICM? Have the plugs on the FICM ever Ben opened? If so you may need to zap strap the plugs down tight, a lot of times the clips break. When I did my FICM, I dielectric greased every wire in the three plugs, tied it all down and zap strapped before I bolted her down and so far working well.
Yea everything is original as far as i can tell. I bought my truck used with about 115,000 miles. And i studded and deleted it about a year ago. And i put a new high output alternator on it friday, and now im having these problems. Ive never had a no start issue until now. Yesterday i did the alternator, fuel filters, and oil/ filter.
When you were doing the work previous there hasn't been any playing with harnesses? I think you have some wiring to track down, power to FICM, grounds ect. This is where things get tough. I would wait to do cold soak and starts to watch that FICM main power and am e sure all is well. With that new alternator, I would think you would be closer to 13.0 volts pretty quick. My 230 is hitting 14s about two minutes after startup cold, 13.2 at the obd2 port.
You would probably have better luck with Ed at Ficmrepair.com.
I haven't had to send mine to him yet, but when its time, I will. He chimes in on threads every now and then and is always willing to help. He seems like a very stand up guy, plus he has excellent feedback from more then just this forum.
I think and pretty sure ficm is shot. I think I'm gonna go with a bulletproof ficm. Any good?? Worth the 500 $? which phase do I need?
I do like the idea of upgrading the whole board (power supply board), as well as an improved case. Is it worth it? Well I don't think it cost them $500 to make it, we'll just leave it at that.
I would get the 4 phase. The 6 phase is just redundant in case it fails, which it will not because it's bullet proof.
You could take yours out, crack it open and see if there is any pcb damage. If it looks ok then you could try and re-solder.
Noe, not trustworthy IMO. Go to Ed, it's the smartest move you can make. Upgraded parts, better soldering, get the lifetime warranty and be done. I got the atlas 40 while I was at it. Bulletproof and Ford overpriced.
Ed from ficm repair? I found a heavy duty 58v reman on ebay for 350. Is that trustworthy?
Ed from Ficmrepair. A ford lists for 750 but you can get it unprogrammed for 496 plus shipping. A 58V will give you no benefit and it's Ebay, kind of a roll of the dice IMHO. You can get one less than 500 from Ed but won't have the lifetime warranty. He has several options available. Check out his website and give him a call. It's worth your time.
