Engine Identification Question

Hey Yall, I recently bought a 1968 F100 that I was told was a 390 Big Block V8. Long story short she runs like a top, once she gets started in the morning. Got her home and started digging around and doing general maintenance and clean up and I need to order some replacement parts due to PO abuse but the VIN states she is a 360 V8 not a 390. The son of the original owner said he was positive that she was a 390. I can find no ID plates as of now but I need new gaskets and a new Carb as the PO used wood screws to hold down the choke and its cheaper to replace it that get it re-machined for machine screws and repair the damage on the Carb Body which the screws punctured at some point.

So the question is are the parts (Gaskets, Carbs etc. , NOT valves and interior engine components) on these two engines swappable until I have time to pull off the water pump and look at the actual stamp marks?

Or is their something I am missing here.

For General Info these are the part numbers I have found:

C8AE-9C485-B on the Emissions tag

C5TE-9460-D on the Exhaust Manifold

I am finding more every day as I clean the grease off the engine.

Thanks for all your help!

The engine tag is mounted with the coil bracket. Externally, a 360 and a 390 are identical. Many people confuse the two as it is easy to do. Carbs swap. Just keep the same venturi size which is the number in the clock face on the side of the bowl. It is difficult to find the manual choke 2100. Auto choke models differ significantly internally and externally, but you can always get the more common carb and a manual choke conversion kit to adapt the auto choke housing.
The only difference between the motors is the rotating assembly, so all gaskets, etc are the same.

Have read on here of similar happenings. They are all 390's on sale day. Many parts are identical ie gasket set etc. My. 360 has. 390 stamped pistons from the factory. You can do a search on here to measure stroke to see what you do have cause all it would take to make a. 360 a 90 is change crank and rods.

360/390's share the same block and bore (4.05"). The only parts that are different 1968/76 F100/350 360 vs 390: Crankshaft, rods, pistons and rings.

1974/75's may/may not have DuraSpark electronic ignition, but all 1976's do. 4V carb optional on 1974/76 390.

Stroke: 360 = 3.50" / 390 = 3.78."
