whats a good brand of Shock Absorber

I have a 2007 f150 stx 2wd has 104000 miles looking at changing the Shock Absorbers and would like to know what is probably the best shock to put on. It's been a while since I brought a set so I am unaware of whats out there. I would like something that give a good ride and control. Can you give me some kind of a idea.

I put Monroe Sensa-Tracs on mine and really like them. Were cheap, too.

This is like asking what brand oil, tire is the best! After a lot research I replaced my rear shocks with the Rancho 9000 because I like the ability to change the damping rate when I have the bed/bumper loaded. I am still trying to figure out how to get the same result for the fronts without a full level effect (which is what the R9000 fronts would do). I might just add a one inch block to the rear end and go with the R9000.

Both of the above shocks (Bilstein/M-Sensitrac) are very good-they were the only others in the running with my research.

I've heard nothign but good things about the Bilsein shocks. I had Monroe Sensitracs on my '95 F150 for a while and wasn't impressed.

Personally, I'd probably do Bilstein's in the rear and the Rancho 2" coil/strut combo up front if you have the money for it and don't mind lifting the front a little. This is what I'm hoping to do at some point.

KYB would be a good choice if you wanted a ride similar to your OEM ride. I put them on the 2006 last year (have since traded it) and I was very pleased with the ride quality. Like OEM but more refined. You can find them on Amazon for very little money too.

I got rancho all around and like them. Rancho 9000's on the rear and rancho quick lift struts up front.
